Since 1944, the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards has provided aspiring young musicians with the opportunity to perform with Australia’s major orchestras in the quest to be named ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year. It is an opportunity like no other for up-and-coming Australian classical artists.
The competition has been an important launch-pad for many successful music careers, unearthing an extraordinary number of talents including Simon Tedeschi, Diana Doherty, Roger Woodward, Ian Munro, Claire Edwardes, Li Wei Qin and many more.
The winner is declared the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year and takes home a $20,000 cash prize, multiple copies of a CD of their winning performance and opportunities for future concert engagements with major Australian symphony orchestras as well as a feature interview in the ABC Limelight magazine’s ‘Please Welcome’ section. We are also delighted to partner with the Music and Opera Singers Trust in offering the Nelly Apt Scholarship of up to $15,000 for a violinist to undertake further study in Israel.
Applications for the 2012 ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards awards are now closed.
