Antony Jeffrey qualified as a Chartered Accountant and has worked as a consultant and manager in the arts, with a speciality in fine music, since 1975. For his consulting company, ABG Australia Pty Ltd he has taken many assignments in arts executive search, mentoring, strategic planning and short term management.

Executive positions have  included Music Board Director at the Australia Council, 1975-77, Commercial Manager of The Australian Opera 1977-1981, first CEO of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, 1983 – 1989, and General Manager of the Song Company, 2006-2009.

He established successful fund raising and marketing programs for major arts companies in the 1980s and 1990s, in particular for The Australian Opera, Australian Ballet, Melbourne Theatre Company and Australian Chamber Orchestra.

He has consulted for many leading arts companies and directed two large multi-event trade and cultural festivals in India and Indonesia for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (1992 – 1996).

He was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his work in the arts in 2008.
