Sandra Yates is a consultant to business and government, particularly in the arts and education. In 1998, during her tenure as Chair of Saatchi & Saatchi, she led the team which authored the report What Australians think about the Arts on behalf of client, the Australia Council for the Arts.
Since that time she has been actively involved in the arts in a number of ways. She is currently Chair of the Sydney Writers’ Festival and a Board member of the National Art School, and was previously a Board member of Musica Viva. She has been Chair of Get Reading! (formerly Books Alive) since its inception. Get Reading! is the largest promotion of books and reading in Australia. She is a subscriber to the Sydney Symphony, and a former student at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She has led a number of government reviews into arts funding in several states, and chaired the strategic review of the National Art School in 2008.
