Music Librarian

Located in The Rocks in Sydney, Symphony Services International provides a range of services and products to our Members, the six Australian symphony orchestras, as well as to the global orchestral community. Together with the Artist Services and Publications departments, the Symphony Services Music Library is well utilised by orchestras, choirs, educational institutions and other organisations. With one of the largest collections of sheet music in the Asia-Pacific region, the Library supplies scores and parts on a regular basis to Members for performance and artistic planning purposes as well as negotiating agreements with music publishers for copyright material. Other clients are able to access the Library’s collection via the music hire service. The Library also has its own publishing arm, Goodear Editions, which produces new editions of orchestral works available for sale in print and digital format via the Goodear online shop.

We are seeking a Music Librarian to play a key role in the operations of the Library. You will work in conjunction with and report to the Library Manager to ensure that the sheet music requirements of Members are met. You will also be responsible for operating the music hire service as the primary contact for clients, for maintaining and supporting the development of the Library’s collection, and for assisting with the production of Goodear Editions.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated musical literacy and familiarity with classical music;
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills;
  • Proven ability to work constructively and positively in a team environment as well as work independently;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and a commitment to providing customer service of a high standard;
  • Willingness to drive a vehicle and transport items to and from the Library’s offsite storage.

Terms of engagement:
Permanent, full time (some flexibility may be considered)

$55,000-$60,000 plus superannuation commensurate with skills and experience
