Emily Sun won the Strings Final of the 2011 ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards with her stunning performance of the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto on Thursday June 24. Emily performed brilliantly with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of esteemed Vladimir Verbitsky. She wins a $5000 cash prize and the last place in the YPA Grand Final in Brisbane on Saturday September 3, where she will compete with Nicholas Russoniello and Nicholas Young the winners of the other stage III categories – ‘Other Instruments’ and ‘Keyboards’.
